SECNAV visits Det. Moron

This blog post comes to us from Builder 3rd Class Susan Boos.

MORON, Spain (Nov. 15, 2013) Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11’s Detail Moron, located in Moron, Spain, had the privilege of meeting Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Ray Mabus.  LTJG Theodore Packowski, from Pittsburgh, Pa., is shown shaking Mabus’ hand (see photo below).  Mabus was visiting the Special Purpose – Marine Air-Ground Task Force (SP-MAGTF) Crisis Response unit while in the region for a multi-nation visit to the U.S. European, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility.

NMCB 11’s Seabees have been working with SP-MAGTF to help secure a building by replacing multiple doors, windows, and other opening with CMU block walls.  Det Moron was originally scheduled to leave Rota, Spain and pursue their mission in Moron more than a month prior.  With the government shutdown, their mission was delayed due to funding.  Although they had to deal with the delay, they are glad they waited, for they may have missed the opportunity to meet the Secretary of the Navy if everything had gone as it was originally planned.
