MID-WEEK MANNA: Why am I Here?

Why am I here? To be happy or to glorify God? A
pastor by the name of John Piper asked himself these
questions during his theological training years. The
conclusion he came to was very interesting and was
inspired by Jonathan Edwards one of the Christian
greatest minds during the formation years of America.

Edwards stated, “God’s purpose for my life was that I
have a passion for God’s glory and that I have a passion
for my joy in that glory, and that these two are one
passion.” Pastor Piper went on to say, “God created
me and you to live with a single, all embracing, all
transforming passion namely, a passion to glorify God by
enjoying and displaying his supreme excellence in all the
spheres of our lives.

Here is the take away for me and hopefully for you. If
you are a child of the living God, if you have given you
heart and life to Jesus Christ be joyful stop walking
around with a defeated attitude. Stop walking around
with a scowl on your face, smile. If you know this truth
then, glorify God with your life, and be happy doing it.
