Look Before You Step

This past week in preparation for our Afghanistan deployment I had the opportunity like all within the Battalion to go through CIED training.  I discovered during this training you need to look before you step.  Because how you train now will be the way you will respond to a threat or a combat situation in the future.  We learned that this is an offensive technique that requires the process of daily practice and the renewing of your mind.  The same can be said with your faith.

You did not wake up one day and say I am going to follow God today.  No, it is a daily process that takes forgiveness, grace, practice, and obedience.  You probably went to a church service, and as a result you were convicted and sought to live out a new lifestyle.  Great!  Do not stop there; examine yourself each day before you head out to work.  Check your mindset and be on the offensive, so you can be better prepared to react to the explosives in this world that could await you.

The apostle Paul stated in Romans 12:1, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  So you have decided to build your foundations on sturdy ground wonderful, now you need to maintain that foundation.   This is a mindset that requires you to look before you step, a process that must begin first with having a healthy and offensive mindset.
