05 October 2011 Midweek Manna

PTS/ ERB/ PRT are just a few of the 3 letter acronyms that have recently affected the Navy and more specifically our BN.  It doesn’t mean much unless it has affected you personally but 1 thing we all have in common is HARD TIMES.  No matter how seasoned, full of wisdom, educated, financially stable, etc… we all face difficult times in our lives.

While it is not my intent to write a theological discourse of HARD TIMES, I do want to share scriptures that help me when I enter the season of HARD TIMES.

1 Cor 10:13, No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it

Jeremiah 32:27, “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

First of all, your way out of difficult times is not being exempt, but the ability God gives you to endure it.  Secondly, is there anything to hard for the Lord.  If you are indeed a child of God, then entrust your future to HIM.  I refuse to let HARD TIMES or people or an Organization dictate my future, for simply put “God orders the steps of the righteous”.

With a worldly twist, ROCKY said:  “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” – Movie Quote from ‘Rocky Balboa’
