WHO IS NMCB 11?

…and what is a Seabee?

Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ELEVEN is a Seabee Battalion specializing in contingency construction, disaster response, and humanitarian assistance.  The Battalion is home-ported in Gulfport, Mississippi.

“CB”, which is the abbreviation for Construction Battalion, spawned the term “Seabee”.  While all members of the U. S. Navy are referred to by the term “Sailor”, “Seabee” more accurately describes those who work in the construction ratings as well as those Sailors who are assigned to Navy commands that fall under the Naval Construction Force (NCF).

Our Seabees specialize in various construction skills ranging from welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, surveying, and equipment operation and repair.  We deploy all over the world to build and fight.  Our motto, “Constructing the future, remembering the past,” guides us to live up to our mission when the call is heard.
